Providence focuses our software programmers and engineers on solving environmental management challenges by linking leading-edge, measurement technologies with unique applications. We specialize in developing, customizing, and implementing software technologies to meet our clients’ data collection and management challenges — ultimately reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
What sets Providence apart? Our staff's expertise and experience in five key areas:
- Broad background in analytical chemistry and instrumentation
- Solid knowledge of electronic components and control devices
- Expertise in scientific programming and software development
- Cutting-edge data communication technologies
- Thorough understanding of the regulatory context in which the monitoring system is needed
By combining regulatory knowledge with software development and instrumentation expertise, we’ve become exceptionally proficient at design custom software that directly addresses our clients’ unique compliance and reporting needs. We offer custom software solutions utilizing a variety of technologies including Microsoft Office solutions (MS Access and MS Excel), which utilize Visual Basic macros to provide data collection and notification features as well as complex calculations and formatting. SharePoint-enabled forms and reports allow for highly customized applications to match your existing workflows. Our solutions can be deployed locally or hosted by Providence with guaranteed uptime and data security.
Providence also provides web-based software using industry standard tools such as ASP.NET 4.0 and 4.5, SQL Server 2008/2010, JQuery, and Crystal Reports. These solutions can meet the needs of a variety of environmental or business requirements and can be deployed as internet or intranet applications. We’re also actively engaged in implementing third-party EMIS software products to enable environmental compliance-related data management.

Active & Intelligent Monitoring (AIM™)
Combining Providence’s software development capabilities with the domain expertise of various media groups allows us to provide turnkey environmental compliance solutions tailored to specific client needs. Our web-based software services include data acquisition and handling for source monitoring, environmental compliance systems, greenhouse gas tracking, reporting and planning tools, TCEQ MSS permit compliance systems, insurance claims tracking systems, and employee resource tracking systems.
Active & Intelligent Monitoring (AIM™) is a powerful software framework Providence developed to provide software as a service (SAAS) to our clients. AIM™ allows us to integrate the most advanced monitoring equipment, communication technologies, data historians, and software for real-time system control and data visualization. It’s adaptable to diverse and tailored applications such as:
- Ambient air monitoring
- Regulatory compliance monitoring
- Plant process monitoring
AIM™ provides real-time notifications by email, fax, or via mobile device to users based on intelligent, behind-the-scenes data processing. Online data processing provides real-time, web-based graphs, charts, maps, and exporting functionality. AIM™ systems can provide a web interface for users to manage compliance activities and generate regulatory reports.
AIM: Associated Services
AIM for Compliance – This web-based tool for tracking compliance requirements provides task management, scheduled notifications, and reporting capabilities.
AIM for DAHS – Providence’s AIM Data Acquisition and Handling System (DAHS) is a web-based software tool that performs the complex and tedious Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) data validation procedures specific to 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 60-63 and Subpart J.
AIM for Title V – Providence’s web-based AIM Title V Manager software tool tracks major sources for Title V reporting and can pull emissions data into the system from the plant data historian or from other AIM modules. The software is based in .NET and SQL Server.
AIM for MSS – On December 14, 2005, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) promulgated regulations that have become known throughout Texas as the “MSS” regulations — a reference to “maintenance, start-up and shutdown” activities at affected facilities. Providence’s web-based AIM for MSS compliance software system help reduce the burdens of the recordkeeping, reporting, and monitoring required by a typical TCEQ MSS Permit.
AIM for GHG – This non-proprietary web-based software solution, based on industry-standard programming languages such as ASP.NET 3.5, Visual Basic, Ajax, and SQL Server 2005, comes with rich data visualization tools that display data in several user selectable formats. The AIM for GHG module provides the user with all of the data validation and emission calculation tools required to comply with the EPA Green House Gas (GHG) monitoring and reporting rule.
