Erosion Control

Providence provides an eco-friendly and cost effective storm water management device designed to effectively trap, filter and treat sediment-laden runoff while reducing hydraulic energy.  This solution includes filtration tubes made from natural bio-degradable, organic sugar cane fibers, all encased in heavy-duty, knitted cylindrical tubes.  The filtration medium is available to accommodate the following specific applications:

  • Slope Interruption Devices
  • Channel/Ditch Flow Checks
  • Drain Inlet Protection
  • Perimeter Sediment Control
  • Bio-Swale Storm Water Treatment Systems

Referred to as the Miracle Sorb® Filtration Tubes, these are most beneficial when used as systematic components of a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).  They are an ideal component to other erosion control technologies, such as

  • Hydraulically Applied Products
  • Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs)
  • Erosion Control Blankets (ECBs)

Miracle Sorb® provides several diameter sizes and lengths of biodegradable organic filter tubes.  These tubes are an aesthetically sound solution to unsightly silt fences that are ineffective solution for erosion and debris containment.
Miracle Sorb® filtration tubes provide the optimal flow, filtration, and flocculation requirements that are key to an effective erosion control solution for storm water management.

FLOW
Flow is critical to the filtration process. Without sufficient flow, failure may result from the product being undermined or sediment washing over top of the filtration system. The light, lofty and resilient mesh composite netting and course natural sugar cane fibers create air space and cavities to facilitate flow. Water passes through the engineered matrix, allowing soil particles to become trapped throughout the organic and bio-degradable tube profile.

FILTRATION
Miracle Sorb® Filter Tubes sugar cane fibers utilizes the patented winErgy processing system to create fibers designed to maximize surface area and water retention. These, combined with crimped, man-made web netting, generate far greater surface area than the man-made by-products in common fiber or wood type rolls. Greater surface area results in greater filtration. The natural biodegradable and organic sugar cane plant fiber and netting composite is the reason that Miracle Sorb® Filter Tubes trap more sediment than competing products.  Additionally, the ability of Miracle Sorb® to absorb hydrocarbons makes it ideally suited for application for waste water streams that are potentially contaminated with hydrocarbons.  The absorbing nature of Miracle Sorb® will retain the oily waste while filtering the waste water stream.

FLOCCULATION
Natural organic, bio-degradable sugar cane flocculants are slowly dissolved and released by the kinetic energy of water flowing through the filter tubes. This flow through process provides a superior delivery system to treat sediment-laden water. The flocculants react with suspended soil particles initiating coagulation and aggregation. The filter tube’s matrix entrains the majority of these coagulated particles, while settling or complementary erosion control devices will aid in the removal of remaining particles.
Theses tubes are accepted and recommended by the U.S. EPA, TCEQ, and TXDOT as “Best Management Practices for Storm Water Structural Controls under Phase I and Phase II Storm Water Permits”. Miracle Sorb® is approved as a USDA BioPreferred Product.
