Providence’s Anniversary Marks 15 Years as Leader in Engineering & Environmental Consulting Services

Baton Rouge, LA -- Providence is celebrating its 15th anniversary in April 2015.  Providence began its focus with a triple bottom line approach – providing for the future of its clients, its employees, and its communities - in 2000.

Co-founder Rich Major said, "Providence was established from the mindset that we could create a thriving business by providing proactive solutions to our clients, attracting the most talented people in the industry, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation, and committing to provide a stellar standard of excellence. Over the last 15 years, Providence has demonstrated this vision and we look forward to continuing our innovative culture and our persistent pursuit of excellence.”

Starting off with a handful of employees, Providence has grown exponentially. The corporate headquarters is now located in a historic, decommissioned car dealership in Mid City Baton Rouge that was cleaned up and restored through a US EPA Brownfields grant. Today, the company has offices in California, throughout Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region, and a rapidly growing presence in Texas.

Providence began in 2000 offering environmental consulting services to industrial clients in the Baton Rouge area. The firm quickly expanded to offer all areas of environmental services and entered the public sector. In 2009, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and shortly after acquiring a Baton Rouge planning firm, Providence spurred the growth of an entire disaster recovery division. Through these successes, Providence was fortunate to acquire the former GSE Associates, LLC, a civil engineering firm in Houma, LA, which significantly expanded its services into engineering design, surveying, and architecture. Most recently, the air quality division has expanded with the acquisition of the former Oris Solutions, LLC, making Providence one of the only firms in the United States to offer the full range of air quality services including planning, modeling, permitting, testing, monitoring, compliance, training, and software. With a tenacious appetite for growth, Providence continues to expand and pursue development opportunities.

In celebration of its 15th year of service, Providence also recognizes its most important resource – its employees. This celebration comes on the heels of Providence’s transition to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Todd Black, co-founder of Providence, said, “It is imperative that our employees share in our successes. What better way to celebrate every milestone and our growth than to reinvest in our employees. At Providence, when we grow, we all gain.”
